Accounting Coordinator (London, Ontario)

Blackburn Media Inc. is a family-owned media company. We operate 13 radio stations across Southwestern Ontario, 12 websites, 5 community news portals and a Digital advertising group. Our vision is as grand as it is simple: to entertain and inform our consumers, while at the same time provide our advertising partners with new ways to reach potential customers on-air, digitally and online.

We are looking for a full-time, highly skilled, detail-oriented accounting coordinator who excels at multitasking. In this role you will review and reconcile account transactions, process payments accurately and on time to external partners and maintain updated records.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. You should be ethical, thorough, and attentive with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Accounting Coordinator responsibilities include:
• Process accruals and outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures (EFT, cheques, VISA’s, etc)
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
• Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
• Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
• Generate reports detailing accounts payables status using SAGE software, ensuring that all financial records are complete and accurate.
• Process and update fixed assets, making journal or ledger entries.
• Understand expense accounts and cost centres.
• Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes (HST, Tariff remittance, etc.)
• Preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports and budgets.
• Assisting with tax preparation, audits, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Requirements and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Business Administration
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Data entry skills along with an aptitude for numbers
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience in bookkeeping, management, or relevant field may be required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills.
• Proficiency with computers, especially SAGE 300 software, strong keying skills.
• High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking.

Digital Content Coordinator (Southwestern, ON)

Join Brand One Digital, a dynamic division of Blackburn Media, as our new Digital Content Coordinator in Southwestern, Ontario. You’ll have the flexibility to work from your preferred branch, located in London, Windsor, Chatham, Wingham, or Sarnia. We’re seeking a driven and creative individual to be a vital part of our Digital Marketing team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute digital campaigns across multiple platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Ads, and other third-party platforms.
  • Keep track of upcoming campaigns and ensure they launch as per the appropriate calendars.
  • Monitor and analyze post-launch campaign performance.
  • Engage with our digital audience to foster positive sentiment and brand advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate client records and assist with campaign performance tracking.
  • Create compelling documents such as presentations, visual summaries, and reports.
  • Collaborate on various client projects as needed.
  • Share insights and trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Stay updated with the latest digital tools and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience with social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and presentation software.
  • Strong content creation skills for the web, including writing and developing engaging content like photos and videos.
  • Understanding of current and emerging social media trends.
  • Knowledge of digital advertising platforms such as PPC, display ads, sponsored content, etc., is a plus.
  • Experience or understanding of SEO principles is beneficial.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to: newscasting, field and desk reporting, creating news content for CKNewsToday.ca, social media engagement

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A diploma or degree in journalism from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Exceptional news judgement.
  • An ability to write clear and concise news stories for on-air and online presentation.
  • A strong on-air sound.
  • A strong work ethic.
